Welcome to Ara Ifa Ijo Orunmila!!!

Mission Statement:

There is no better mission in life other than sharing information and teaching the love that is Ifa. It is the development of and growth of our character with the principles of faith, belief, compassion, and committment to the ideals of non-judgement of our fellow human beings that we must all strive for. It is Awo Fasina Falade's desire to share the teachings of Olodumare through Ifa. In corresponding and communicating through the Holy Odu, the spiritual cosmology of the Egun, the Orisa, the Irunmole, and Orunmila, we learn how to successfully achieve our destinies and develop our character..

The development of Good Character is quintessential and can only be achieved through endurance and perseverance in the face of life's difficulties. Being able to walk through this world's obstacles without complaint and still continue to persevere in the face of adversity is what Ifa teaches. By orienting our inner most thoughts with the morals of our ancestors of good character, we can achieve our destinies and have fulfilling lives of peace, joy, and spiritual prosperity.

May this website provide you with a foundation from which to build your knowledge on the Ifa Tradition. Everything presented here is basic information that all Ifa devotees should know and incorporate in their everyday lives.

Temple Dress Code and Etiquette

The dress code of the temple is traditional african but if you do not possess african style attire, you may wear white or light colored clothing. This is a house of Ifa and must observe absolute respect at all times. Shoes must always be removed when entering the shrine room.

Obinrin/Ladies

You are the mothers of this temple and in being mothers you bring the element of nurturing, love, comfort, warmth, discipline, and education. Mothers are the first educators of life as we understand it. It is the mothers who create the definition of guidance for our children. Therefore, it is the mothers who with love and nurturing bring positive communication and clarity to the temple atmosphere.

Okunrin/Gentlemen

You are the fathers of the temple and in being so you bring guidance, direction and set the tone of the atmosphere in the temple. The fathers must maintain a brotherly atmosphere and give fatherly guidance to the temple children.

Omo/Children

Children are our future. They are our ancestors who have returned to us. We must remind them to behave and teach them behaviors that are traditional in values. It is our responsibility to teach them how to approach the shrines and greet and respect the elders.

Alejo/Visitors

It is our duty to make each visitor feel comfortable and at ease. Show them that they are at home and always greet them. Introduce yourself to them and get them to do the same. Generate a family attitude of love, not a judging desire to learn or to come back to tradition.
